Organizations have an ever-growing need to develop their IT systems from the perspective of company processes. This need is a driving force behind the rise of the new generation of Business Process Modelling tools. Within existing applications a recurring problem is a lack of or poor visibility of the relationship between the application functions and the company processes. More than 90% of operational systems have already been maintained for many years. It is therefore particularly relevant that organizations gain a clear insight into these relationships when maintaining systems. And it is precisely during this maintenance that up-to-date functional and technical documentation is often missing.
To overcome this problem, Omnext has developed the CARE with Source2VALUE proposition, which provides and enhances Computer Aided Redocumentation and Evaluation. CARE constructs the technical documentation of systems automatically on a release-by-release basis. It is then possible to construct Use Cases of the systems concerned, in about two minutes per function point, using the Source2VALUE Use Case Editor (UCE). This represents a unique opportunity to relate existing application functions to the corresponding business processes.
